Cool Breeze

I'm up at the pre-crack of dawn this morning but it's so blissfully cool I want to soak up every second of it. The little breaks with cooler weather make the hotter days so much more tolerable, at least to me. Its a wonderful chance to open all the windows letting the stale air out and fragrant flower scented air in.
Yesterday my boxes of goodies from my vacation in Minnesota arrived. Perfect timing for a morning on the swing.
That's my sweet little swan from .. where was that swan from? Maybe Hunt and Gather. I love old wooden yard stakes. And I love a chance to look through all my books. I can't wait to spend some time browsing the pages of Melissa's Small Stash Sewing.

My first rain lily of the season.

Meadow rue. I would love a meadow filled with sweet old fashioned flowers. Or maybe I could just stitch one up!

Seems perfect, right?

The Dig

How goes it peeps? It's hot here already and I'm really trying to curb my whining about it. No promises on how long I can hold out though. Consider that a warning. You know, for your own good.
Anyway a couple of weeks ago Bret had to go up in the attic space to replace our attic fan. That meant clearing stuff out of my sewing room closet, the location of the attic and crawl space access, convenient don't you think? Anyway in putting stuff back I came across a tote bag with this in it. Circa 2005.
All it needs is 3 corners and the top is done. You might think I'm working on it right now. Because you're nice like that. However I'm just sitting near an a/c register. Not complaining.

A day in the life.

So yesterday was grand! Elizabeth and I hit the road for a little outing to Lafayette, to visit the new location of Souvenir, a darling French Apartment Shop! Their new location is wonderful.

Imagine how delighted I was to see our friend Chickie there! Chickie was there with Sofia and Stella after a sewing class at ThimbleCreek. I hope you can zoom in and see their adorable pillows. (I ♥ Chickie)

The shop is just layer upon layer of wonder! Very fun and very inspirational! It was a lovely day.

Today

So this morning I'm out back drinking coffee and trying to get my Kate Spain on. My yard doesn't cooperate though, even my plants look messy. I'm feeling happy though, my fig tree suddenly has a bunch of figs on it. I bought this little tree for my mom really, she loves figs. This year I started out with these two figs and nothing else and I felt pretty bummed about it. My mom did some dog sitting and plant watering while I was in Minnesota and under her care, the tree sprouted a ton of new figs. Anyway. So what have you been up to? Everyone seems so busy and I'm in a holding pattern. Finished up my stunt sewing project and got that shipped back off to Kathy. Now I'm waiting for Red Rose Farm fabric and making colored pencil diagrams of quilt projects. Can't wait. Maybe I need to find that project to keep me busy till then.

Well back to the swing while it's still nice out. Hope you guys have a good day! xo

1995

This was the picture I took Friday morning out back. I had a busy day planned and got up early to have some coffee on the swing. Then as usual, things take a turn you don't expect and here it is Monday. My internet was only letting things come in, like email, but sadly not allowing me to go out, like return email or you know, get to blogger. Dang it. Then my sidekick had some problems and it didn't let me use the internet, suddenly its 1995 again. WHAT. THE. HECK. Am I on restriction?
Anyway, got over it because Elizabeth and I were meeting up with Monica, Susanne and Gailen for lunch. You can read about it on Susanne's blog.
What a blast. I miss that creative energy you have in a group like that. Tons of ideas. The rest of the weekend was a blur of activity, Frankie was home for Father's Day weekend. Awesome. Lots of fun family time. Bonus, I finished up a challenging stunt sewing project and have it ready to mail off today. ALL GOOD.
Hope you guys all had a great weekend too. Tell me how it went. And holy cow... go check on Cherri. She's got a crazy story to tell. See ya later sweet peoples! xo

Wednesday

Ok, by now you're thinking I'm sitting out back on the swing drinking coffee out of mugs from companies that don't exist anymore, right? Well you're not far from wrong there my friends. The weather has been great. But mostly I have been sewing on my stunt project and completely forgetting that I had that giveaway going! DORK.
Unlike other cool people who can do that screen print of the random number generator, I can just say I picked this comment from Leslie S. in Minnesota..
"Thanks for all the new pics. I'm glad you're showing bits and pieces that others haven't. It's more like being there. And can you ever get enough of the sweetness that is Quilt Soup?"
No Leslie, I can't get enough of the sweetness that is Quilt Soup and Barbara! She's too cute! Email me your address and I'll get on sending out those patterns to you!
Ok, back to work for me... xo

A day at the hideout.

So that was some fun news yesterday wasn't it? I can't wait to get my hands on some of that Red Rose Farm fabric. We have some great projects planned! In the mean time I'm sewing away on my stunt sewing project, need to get that finished up and back in the mail to Kathy!
But first, let's see some photos of my trip to Roseann's Hideout. Roseann had Linda and I over for a crafty day at her secret hideout, and it was great.

I wish I had a chance to hang out there more often. It's fun to try something new. Thanks again to Roseann for having us over!!
So people, tell me what's new with you!

Sweet Pea

When I left home before market, my sweet peas were about a foot high. When I arrived back home they were about 5 feet and growing, and covered in flowers. My mom was keeping them cut so they wouldn't go to seed... and I'm so grateful. I have little bouquets here and there, and the air is so sweet. And just when the bunches are looking at little peaked, a new crop is ready to pick. If I can get out back in time, there is still dew on the petals.

Everything is looking a little crispy here after a short heat wave, but oh the sweet peas.. they can't get enough of it.
Had a nice lunch with Frankie yesterday, and today I'm off with Elizabeth. Need to get my focus back. Hope you guys have a great day. xo

The Last of the Quilt Market Photos

Good morning everybody, how's it going? Slow and warm here in PKMville. Just rummaging through the last of the photos.. It was a great time and I'm not done talking about the trip at all.
So here's Barbara showing off her new line of fabric, you can check it out here. I just love Barbara, you know her stuff is so cheery and cute and clever and because you know, Barbara is just so nice!! Seriously.
I just love this little table vignette she has here. Cherries and all kinds of cheery colors! In fact today I have a two patterns I collected up for a give away! Leave a comment and later this week I'll draw a name and send off Gramma's Garden and Charming Cherries Tablerunner to the winner.
Here's Celine from Perkin's Dry Goods. I always enjoy seeing her at quilt market! Check out her blog for a few posts about quilt market and
all her new patterns.

Just in case you missed Nanette's post, here is a picture of all her wonderful projects. But really, go read all about it at her place! Nanette is so inspiring, if you haven't been drop everything now and go!

And hey, check it out, Silly Lil' Doe! I "met" Doe on her blog, but she's mostly on flickr now.. I miss her bloggy goodness. (Wow, just went to flickr for the link and spent ages going through her photos! You should try it.) Anyway, always super fun to meet people you're so inspired by in real life!!! Hi Doe!!

More Market

It's been a long week people. Long. Week. Anyway.

Just about everyone is done with market posts and there are far better booth photos out there, so get clicking on those KPKM links. So here's Cyndi and Julie!

Oh so cute Bari J's area at Windham. She's got some great pictures of these projects on her blog. I must have tweeted the cute photo I had of her standing in her area here.

Nancy and Linda.

Here's Gudrun. Check out her blog to hear her cute story about her son and schoolhouse!

And look at all the cuteness here in Cindy's booth. How I managed to miss getting her pal Renee in a photo, I don't know.

And meeting up with Twitter friends is the greatest.

New friends. Ask them about me, I dare you.

More new friends!!!! Nice to meet you in person Mary Andra and meet the sisters!

New friend and first time market attendee!

Old friend and neighbor!

Sweet hand stitcher and sometimes blogger!

And today, last but by no means least, someone I was dying to meet for a long time!

That's it for today. Hope you guys have a good weekend. I'll get more pictures going and really, I need to try and get my act together and make something. It's been too long. And then, a trip to see Elizabeth's cleaned up studio.... have you seen the photos?

Pretenses

I'm now giving up all pretenses of turning these market posts into a cohesive story.. I have jury duty, so just want to get my post up so you guys have something to do tomorrow.. and however long I end up hanging out in court! At the Holiday Happy end of the Lecein booth, Kate Spain, Monica, Brenda, me and Nireko!

Aww are they the greatest sisters ever???? Smart, happy and hilarious. Not to mention so very talented. Totally in awe. And speaking of great sisters, why don't I have a good photo of these two?
The completely adorable Kay Whitt. I hear her book is simply amazing. I GOTTA GET MY HANDS ON IT.

Cutest couple award goes to Sherri and her husband Paul. Just ask anybody.

First time meeting the darling miss Amy! Thanks to Gina for introducing me!

Glad to see you again Gina! Missed you a ton! xo

After many many markets, finally I met the very sweet Tara! I've managed to miss her since probably our first market in Houston, but finally the timing was just right.

Kathy Kathy Kathy!!!! Her book is selling like HOTCAKES.. and I'm lucky to have had the chance to sew a little bit for her.

And to finish off this set, the sweetest mother-daughter design team around, Bonnie and Camille.
Ok more disjointed photos to come.. Lots of pretty smiling faces because as good as all the great stuff it, the people are totally AMAZING. Ok, see you on the flip side of jury duty my very special people. xo
