More Sunshiney talk

One of the things I decided about this year was that I wanted to get back to doing some of the things I used to love doing. Some how I got away from doing them and never went back. Like gardening. So back to Alden Lane on Sunday. The new primroses were in and I love these pretty crepe paper looking pinks. They're not in a pot yet, I got sidetracked.
I also decided that I needed to get on my little raised bed. Binnie really loved the fresh lettuce and parsley, so I planted some starts for her, plus some seeds for Old Spice Sweet Peas. You can see there's rose clippings and weeds galore, not to mention the wood for the would-be bench behind the raised bed.

When Frankie was little we always had fresh flowers and some how I just got away from doing that. I just want to get back to the things that make me happy, like flowers and birds and books. So its small but its a start.
HAPPY GROUNDHOG DAY! Let's hope Phil has good news.. here we're back to rain but with the break, I feel good about it. My lettuce is going to love it. xo

Good for you! But... you might as well be speaking another language, as gardening is a foreign subject to me. I do not know of what you speak. I do love the final results, though. Did you say Sweet Peas??? Awesome.

It looks like spring to me! Here in the northeast we are looking at 6 more weeks of winter (thanks Phil!) It is very gray out. Those flowers were just what I needed! We can't put flowers out till May (usually the end of the month.)!

Binnie will so enjoy your lettuce and parsley! I have to tell you, my kids (6 and 8) LOVE to look at your post of Binnie in her cardboard playhouse. They ask me frequently to show them that.

Such cheerful flowers! I love to garden too...our growing season won't start til May though!

That is such good advise. We all get so busy and before you know it our life goes by. We need to stop and think about what used to make us happy and re-acquaint ourselves with them. Thanks for the reminder. Hopefully it won't be raining next week and I can get outside and start cleaning up the garden.

Congratulations on getting back to gardening! The raised bed looks fabulous. So fabulous that I might just spend the rest of the workday staring at it. We're still three weeks away from even starting the earliest seeds, let alone having green things growing. I've only been growing veggies for four years or so, but I can't imagine ever stopping. It's so relaxing and rewarding! I hope all your flowers and veggies grow hearty and strong and beautifully for you this season!

Now this winter I've been pretty good about not whining about the weather but these kind of posts get me going. I won't see anything in my garden until May and that makes me a little jealous of you lucky CA girls. Guess I'll just have to find some happy fabric to cheer me up.

I love having fresh flowers to pick and put into vases--much more than any flowers you can buy. I have a new rose garden that I'm hoping will produce something good this spring. I'd love to have sweet peas, but every time I plant them the darn crows pull them up and eat them before they have a chance to grow.

Seriously? This is what it looks like at your place? I'm going to go off and cry now.

Yes, you guessed it, I live in the frigid no man's land of Wisconsin.

Sounds like a great plan!

I don't want to hear any more whining about the rain! We've just survived a week where the highs were in single digits here in Minnesota. But I do love sweet peas. Thanks for the pretty pictures. They will have to hold me for at least 3 more months.
